PHOTO OF THE WEEK
Gooderham Building: 1898

The Gooderham Building, also known as the Flatiron Building, was completed in 1892. Look at the surrounding buildings in the late 1800s!
Nestled at the intersection of Church St and Wellington St E in the historic St. Lawrence neighbourhood, the building served as the head office for the Gooderham & Worts Distillery, a family business that had grown to dominate the Canadian spirits industry.
3 Little Known Facts:
1. It has one of Toronto’s oldest electric elevators
2. Toronto’s Gooderham building was the inspiration for the Flatiron Building in New York City (built in 1902).
3. There is a tunnel between the Flatiron and The King Edward Hotel
With the exception of the Flatiron Building, Church St and Front St E is almost unrecognizable today: (courtesy of Google Maps):

One of the most photographed spots in Toronto.
