Yonge Arcade in 1915

Did you know that this was considered Canada's first indoor shopping mall?

Toronto's Yonge Street Arcade was built in 1884 and was a four storey indoor mall. The arcade consisted of 52 stores and was the predecessor to the Eaton Centre.

Unfortunately, the building fell into disrepair and was damaged by two fires. It was demolished in 1954.

Did You Know…

Dufferin Mall was once the location of a horse racing track called the Dufferin Park Racetrack. It was demolished in 1955 and its stakes races moved to Woodbine Racetrack.
